Bridge the Gap of a Missing Tooth

Dental bridges are a great option for replacing missing teeth. Using your existing teeth, a bridge is created to cross the area where your tooth is missing. To ensure their strength and durability, bridges are made from gold, metal, alloys, or porcelain.

Creating the Bridge

A bridge is created in a multi-step process. First, abutments of your existing teeth are created where the bridge will be attached, and the existing teeth are recontoured to provide the bridge's base.

After the abutments are created, a mold of the area is taken and sent to a dental lab for your bridge to be created. The bridge is created using a mold in order to fit properly and feel as close as possible to your natural teeth. The bridge is made up of two crowns on both ends, which will be placed on the abutments, and a pontic, which is the new tooth that will replace your missing tooth.

Temporary and Permanent Bridges

You'll be fitted for a temporary bridge while we wait for your permanent bridge to be created. The temporary bridge will protect the abutments and the exposed gum areas, while also providing you with a more appealing aesthetic appearance.

Once your permanent bridge has been created, you'll visit our office for a follow-up appointment for it to be placed on the abutments. The dentist will use an adhesive to ensure the bridge is set.

Adjusting to Your Bridge

It may take a few days for you to get used to your new bridge, but after a little while, you'll feel like you have your own teeth back. You should eat soft foods for the first few days after having your bridge placed to avoid any problems. After this initial phase, you'll be able to return to eating the foods you want without issue.

Schedule an Appointment

If you're missing a tooth, we strongly recommend having it replaced. Aside from any concerns about your appearance, a missing tooth can also cause structural changes to your mouth or jaw and also make it difficult to eat or speak properly.
